Fundación José María Aragón was an Argentine foundation active in the social sciences, known for publishing reference works such as the Primer directorio de fundaciones de la República Argentina (1980) and the Bibliografía argentina de ciencias sociales (1986).[1][2] The foundation operated in the fields of economics, sociology, epistemology and methodology of the social sciences, political science, history and educational science.[3]

Design and History

Documentation of the foundation’s visual identity is scarce. No official source has been located that describes, depicts or attributes a logo for Fundación José María Aragón. The claim that Argentine designer Norberto H. Coppola created a logo for the foundation in 1973 cannot be verified through available primary or secondary sources.

Norberto Coppola is a documented figure in Argentine graphic design. He was a member of the Departamento de Diseño Gráfico at the Instituto Torcuato Di Tella, described as the first professional graphic design space in Argentina.[4] His posters for the Teatro San Martín have been exhibited as part of the history of Argentine graphic design.[5] An archival fonds dedicated to Coppola’s graphic design work is held by Fundación IDA.[6] However, none of these sources connect Coppola to Fundación José María Aragón.

The foundation’s administrative council in the late 1970s included Roberto Cortés Conde as president, Augusto Conte MacDonell as vice-president, and members such as Guido Clutterbuck, Rafael Braun, Ezequiel Gallo and Gregorio Klimovsky.[3] The foundation’s address was listed as 11 de Septiembre 2139, 1428 Buenos Aires.[3]

Meaning and Symbolism

Because no verifiable description of the foundation’s logo has been located, no documented symbolism, color scheme or design intent can be reported. Any interpretation of geometric forms, abstract shapes or references to scientific inquiry would be speculative.
