Kantata is the professional services automation (PSA) software brand created in 2022 when Mavenlink and Kimble Applications merged and relaunched under a single new name. The company’s visual identity centers on a bold orange wordmark, a deliberate departure from the blue tones common across enterprise technology branding.
Design and History
Kantata was announced on May 16, 2022, following the merger of Mavenlink and Kimble Applications, which closed in December 2021. The combined company adopted the new brand name to signal a unified identity beyond the two legacy products, which were renamed Kantata OX (formerly Mavenlink) and Kantata SX (formerly Kimble).[1][2]
The name Kantata was inspired by “cantata,” a classical music composition that combines multiple voice and instrumentation elements. The company described this musical form as a metaphor for the collaborative creation that underpins successful professional services organizations.[3]
Kantata’s internal brand team, including Jennifer Dodos, Vice President of Marketing Communications, and Charles Gustine, Brand Evangelist, spoke publicly about the rebrand’s development. Gustine noted that the visual design unlocked the brand once the name was seen in context, and that the letterforms were chosen to give each character a bold presence that could serve as a brand indicator.[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The logo’s orange color was a deliberate strategic choice. Dodos explained that blue is very predictable in the technology space, and Kantata did not want to be expected. The team described the orange as fresh, bright, and vibrant, with Gustine adding that the color represented “the dawn of a new day” and a “Sunrise colour” for the future of professional services.[4]
The brand’s primary orange is documented as hex code #ED7111, identified by Brandfetch as “Tango.”[5]
Typography and Design
The Kantata mark is a wordmark-only design rendered in lowercase letterforms. Gustine noted that the more angular form of the lettering was selected because it worked better for using each letter as a brand indicator, giving the wordmark bold, distinctive character.[4]
Following the rebrand rollout, designer Ralph Pato collaborated with Kantata’s marketing team to develop a cohesive set of icons for the homepage and marketing assets, working within the refreshed brand’s updated colors, typography, and visual language. Senior Visual Designer Jodi Schwausch led that effort.[6]
