Landskrona BoIS, formally Landskrona Boll- och Idrottssällskap, is a Swedish football club based in Landskrona, Scania, founded on 7 February 1915 through a merger of IFK Landskrona and Diana.[1] The club’s visual identity centers on an oval emblem bearing the initials L.B.I.S., a mark that has been in continuous use since it was first publicly unveiled in 1924.

Design and History

The current Landskrona BoIS emblem, an oval-shaped badge with the initials L.B.I.S., was shown to the public for the first time in 1924, in connection with the inauguration of Landskrona Idrottsplats.[2] Before this, the club had used a 1919 silver club pin depicting a football with the club’s initials, a design that was fairly typical of the era and shared by several other clubs.[2] The oval emblem was introduced as a new and unique design.

In 2002, on commission from Nileskog Media, the emblem was redrawn on computer, giving it its current appearance.[2] Changes made to the emblem over the years compared to the original design were most likely unintentional, resulting from hand-drawing, embroidery, reproduction and recreation of the mark before its 2002 digitization.[2] The current emblem differs relatively significantly from how it looked when originally drawn and presented in 1924.[3]

The club’s official website describes the emblem as its foremost brand asset, noting that the oval-shaped mark with its initials has existed since 1924.[4] Historical variations have included versions with a wreath surrounding the club emblem.[4]

Meaning and Symbolism

The club’s colors are black and white, and its home kit has traditionally been a black and white striped shirt.[5] The club’s own communications reference “our stripes” as a core part of its identity, for example in connection with a special 110th anniversary third kit in 2025 that carried a specially designed emblem highlighting both the stripes and the colors of Scania.[6]
