Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho, commonly known as SJK or SJK Seinäjoki, is a Finnish professional football club from the city of Seinäjoki. The club was formed on 5 November 2007 as a merger between the first teams of TP-Seinäjoki and Sepsi-78. The club’s official colors are black, golden yellow, and white, and its crest is built around those three tones.[1][2]
Design and History
SJK was formed in 2007 after the merger of TP-Seinäjoki and Sepsi-78. The working name of the new club was Seinäjoki Futis, and a public contest was held to choose the official name. The winning name, Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho, was suggested by many people. A separate contest was also held for the club’s logo and uniform design.[1]
The club’s registered name, Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho ry, was registered on 22 January 2008.[1] The crest has remained consistent with the club’s founding identity, using the black, golden yellow, and white palette that continues to define the club’s visual presence.[2]
Meaning and Symbolism
The club’s colors are documented as black, golden yellow, and white.[2] The Veikkausliiga official club profile lists SJK’s home kit as a black shirt with black shorts and white socks, with an all-white away kit, reflecting the same color scheme used in the crest.[2] No official source documents additional symbolic meaning behind the crest’s individual elements.
