Sisense is a business analytics software company that provides an AI-driven data and embedded analytics platform. The company’s visual identity has undergone two significant transformations since its founding, moving from a bold, industrial-inspired mark to a refined, data-visualization-based logo system.
Design and History
The original Sisense brand was developed by an external agency and relied on a yellow and black color scheme with hard, all-caps fonts featuring sharp angles. The logo mark was inspired by the tire tracks of a Caterpillar truck, intended to evoke a hardcore power-tool image that positioned Sisense as the strongest tool in the data market at the time [1].
In May 2019, Sisense announced a merger with cloud data platform Periscope Data. This event prompted the in-house brand team to begin a comprehensive brand evolution process, which took about 18 months from kickoff to launch in late January 2021 [1]. The team surveyed customers, partners, prospects, and employees from both companies, and the results pointed toward two brand archetypes: the sage (a knowledgeable, intelligent advisor) and the creator (an innovative, bold challenger). This marked a shift from the “Hero” archetype at the core of the original brand [1].
The new logo, launched in January 2021, is an abstraction of the Sisense infusion model combined with a donut chart to create the letter S. The design team aimed for a logo that was “timeless, clean, recognizable, and evolved” [1]. The brand evolution was led by Efrat Talbi, a visual designer who joined the Sisense brand team in May 2019 [1].
In October 2024, Sisense underwent another rebrand, described in official release notes as “an entirely new look and feel,” which included updated logos and favicons across its products [2]. The Sisense community also confirmed a brand refresh with a new logo and colors in late 2024 [3].
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2021 logo combined two meaningful elements: the Sisense infusion model and a donut chart, a common data visualization form. This abstraction created the letter S, tying the company’s identity directly to its analytics product and the concept of infusing data insights into applications [1].
The color palette was also redeveloped around the Sisense yellow, which was retained as the most impactful asset from the original brand. The new palette added a light green for a modern techy touch, a deep indigo with a greenish tint for a mature advisor tone, a calm deep purple reflecting quiet intelligence, a neutral sandstone for warmth, and a bold red for innovation. Yellow was used more sparingly and strategically in the new system rather than as full backgrounds [1].
Typography and Design
The current Sisense brand portal identifies two primary typefaces. Poppins is the primary font, used consistently across presentations, websites, and print for headlines and body text. DM Sans is also a key element of the brand’s visual identity, bringing clarity and modernity to Sisense materials [4].
The brand portal also provides specific logo usage guidelines. Clear space around the logo is measured using the dot in the “i” as the unit of measurement, and the logomark’s dot must match the size of the “i” dot in the logotype. The logo must always be scaled proportionally with no stretching or distortion, and color changes, effects, or placement on busy backgrounds are prohibited [4].
