Prevost is a coach manufacturer based in Sainte-Claire, Québec, making seated touring coaches and bus shells for motorhome and specialty conversions. The company operates as part of Volvo Group. Volvo’s involvement began with a 50/50 joint venture with Henlys in 1995; Volvo acquired the remaining share in 2004. Prevost’s company history and Volvo’s 2004 announcement describe those milestones.

The graphic compares two wordmark treatments: black, closely spaced serif capitals and a blue version with wider spacing and more streamlined letterforms. Both rely on the name alone, without a separate pictorial emblem. The labels in the graphic identify archive stages; they should not be read as independently documented redesign dates.

1924 – 1989

This stage shows “PREVOST” in black uppercase serif letters. The characters sit close together, making the word a compact block. The contrast with the later, more open lettering is the clearest visual distinction between the two archive stages.

The date range connects the mark to the company’s early history, but does not establish when this lettering was introduced. Eugène Prévost began a furniture and woodworking business in Sainte-Claire in 1919, then built a wooden coach body on an REO truck chassis in 1924. The company later opened a bus plant in 1937 and introduced an all-metal body in 1945; in 1957 it was renamed Prevost Car. These milestones are outlined in Prevost’s account of its early history and its company timeline.

The later archive stage keeps the uppercase name but switches to blue, with much wider letter spacing and simpler, heavier letterforms. Horizontal cutouts are visible in the first two letters. The added space gives the wordmark a broader, more open silhouette than the compact black stage. The heading is an archive label, not a documented introduction date.

Prevost continues to use its single-word name as part of Volvo Group. Its 2024 centennial account and 2025 newsroom coverage show company activity under that name, without announcing a corporate identity change. The centennial account also recalls the 1924 coach, while the newsroom reports later coach deliveries. (Centennial account; Prevost newsroom.)
