The Patrizia Pepe identity
Patrizia Pepe is an Italian fashion brand founded in 1993 by Patrizia Bambi and Claudio Orrea. The founders developed it alongside their textile company, Tessilform. In a 2003 account at a WIPO conference, Orrea said they chose “Pepe” for its witty, playful quality, then paired it with Patrizia’s name and Florence to give the name a more distinctive identity (WIPO conference paper).
The identity combines a wordmark with the Fly emblem. The wordmark uses fine, widely spaced lettering, with “FIRENZE” set beneath “PATRIZIA PEPE” in the stage image below. The supplied versions show a restrained monochrome treatment; no typeface or designer credit is established in the cited brand history.
The brand’s history says it unveiled the Fly as its “precious seal” in Autumn-Winter 2012, describing the insect silhouette as an ultra-modern reinterpretation and an iconic symbol. Co-founder Patrizia Bambi has explained that the Fly was chosen for boldness, speed and resilience, as well as adaptability and curiosity (Patrizia Pepe brand history; Bambi’s Sotto Voce account).
The emblem also appears in the brand’s retail identity: its history dates the Glam Rhapsody store concept to September 2019 and notes a neon reinterpretation of the Fly (Patrizia Pepe brand history).
1993 – Today

This stage image shows the Patrizia Pepe Firenze wordmark. The heading spans the brand’s history, but it should not be read as proof that this exact wordmark dates from 1993. The brand’s history separately places the Fly emblem’s unveiling in Autumn-Winter 2012, distinguishing that documented addition from the wordmark shown here. The brand’s current site continues to feature the Fly as an identity symbol (Patrizia Pepe brand history; Sotto Voce).
