DATA (DTA) is a blockchain-based project originally initiated by the Blockchain Data Foundation, a Singapore-based not-for-profit company, to address trust and fraud issues in the digital advertising ecosystem.[1] The project’s token, DTA, was issued as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum.[1] The project has since evolved into the DATA Network, described as an open protocol for sourcing, proving, and processing real human data for AI training.[2]
Design and History
The current DATA Foundation logo is described in the organization’s official brand guide as “a column shaped from data,” combining monumental and machine-like qualities. The guide states the mark represents “verifiable human data as the foundation AI is meant to stand on.”[3] The brand guide presents the logo in several forms: a primary logo, a standalone symbol for social icons and token badges, and animated in-motion renders.[3]
The earlier DATA (DTA) token identity, associated with the original advertising-focused project, used a distinct mark that circulated across cryptocurrency platforms and token listings.[4] The project’s website at that time was data.eco.[5] The transition from the original advertising protocol to the current AI data network represents a significant shift in the project’s focus, with the current identity built around the DATA Foundation and its network.[2]
Meaning and Symbolism
The DATA Foundation’s official brand guide explicitly describes the logo’s meaning: the column form “marks verifiable human data as the foundation AI is meant to stand on.”[3] This symbolism ties directly to the organization’s stated mission of providing tamper-proof provenance trails for human-contributed data used in AI training.[2]
Typography and Design
The DATA Foundation brand guide specifies a typographic system using four fonts: Utile for headlines and bold numbers, Signifier for sub-heads and short copy, ABC ROM for body text, and a mono variant of ROM for labels and buttons. The guide also notes that open-source alternates are available when the brand fonts are not accessible.[3]
The brand’s color system is described as “restrained and built for clarity,” with a palette of black (#1A1A1A), dark (#292929), white (#F8F8F6), light (#EFEFEB), and grey (#E4E4E2), plus a single highlight color of bright yellow (#F6FF00) reserved for emphasis.[3]
