Hipertonicks is an electronics brand from the United States. Its logo was originally designed by Robert Hagenhofer in 1975, according to the logo database LogosBrands, which is the only source that documents this specific design attribution and date. [1]

Design and History

Robert Hagenhofer (1923-2007) was a graphic designer who worked in the Will Burton design studio from 1952 to 1953, alongside Andy Warhol. Born in Chicago, he served in World War II and graduated from the Chicago Institute of Design. He moved to Staten Island in 1952, where he continued his graphic design work and later became active as an environmentalist. [2] The College of Staten Island’s Robert Hagenhofer Collection similarly identifies him as a graphic designer and Staten Island environmental activist. [3]

Hagenhofer’s earlier design work is documented in the AIGA Design Archives, which credits him on several pieces from the early 1950s, including a stationery design for himself in Indianapolis (1953), a blotter set created with Stuart S. Williams (1953), and a poster exhibition designed with Doug Lang in Chicago (1952). [4] [5] [6]

Beyond the attribution of the Hipertonicks mark to Hagenhofer in 1975, no additional documentation has been found describing the logo’s visual features, its redesign history, or the specific design intent behind it. The LogosBrands entry describes the mark as a “reflection” and “cut” shape logo, but this description is not corroborated by any primary or archival source. [1]

Meaning and Symbolism

No documented symbolism, official color specifications, or typography for the Hipertonicks logo has been located in any primary source. The only verifiable facts are the designer attribution and the 1975 design date, both of which come from the same secondary database entry. [1]
