BetterHelp is an online therapy platform founded in 2013 that connects users with licensed therapists and counselors through a digital format. The company, which describes itself as the world’s largest therapy service, operates with a network of more than 32,000 licensed therapists and has helped over 5 million people worldwide. BetterHelp is owned by Teladoc Health, Inc., which holds the BETTERHELP trademark. [1] [2]
Design and History
The BetterHelp logo consists of a pair of green leaves followed by the wordmark “BetterHelp” written in a lowercase humanist typeface. The stems of the leaves are stylized to resemble two human hands, created through the use of negative space. The words “better” and “help,” although joined, use different colors: “better” appears in green while “help” appears in gray. [3]
In a significant brand and digital platform overhaul, the design agency 500 Designs was engaged to completely reimagine BetterHelp’s brand identity. The stated goal was to position BetterHelp as the most trusted, accessible, and empathetic therapy provider, addressing what the agency described as a critical disconnect between the brand and its empathy-driven mission. The branding work included developing a visual strategy incorporating logical storytelling to create authentic, clear, and actionable areas of focus. [4] [5]
Andrea Chen, BetterHelp’s Director of Product Design, praised the agency’s work, noting satisfaction with the new brand direction and the team’s concept development and execution. [5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The leaf-and-hand motif in the BetterHelp symbol is documented as a deliberate visual device. The stylized stems of the leaves are designed to resemble two human hands through negative space, a technique that visually connects the natural imagery of leaves with human support. [3]
Typography and Design
The BetterHelp wordmark is set in a lowercase humanist typeface, a style characterized by its calligraphic influences and readability. The two-part wordmark uses a two-color treatment, with “better” rendered in green and “help” in gray, creating a visual distinction within the single word. [3]
Brand color data associated with BetterHelp includes a green tone documented as #599E3D, identified by the color name “Apple,” alongside white and black. [6]
