Park City Hospital in Park City, Utah, is a full-service community hospital that opened on September 15, 2009, and was originally known as Park City Medical Center.[1] It operates as part of the Intermountain Healthcare system.[2]
Design and History
Because Park City Hospital did not exist until 2009, no 1978 logo for this facility exists. The hospital’s visual identity is tied to its parent organization, Intermountain Healthcare. In January 2023, Intermountain Healthcare announced a rebrand to Intermountain Health, which included a new, colorful logo that was gradually phased in over the following years.[3] The new logo was adopted after testing in several states and discussions with English- and Spanish-speaking people ages 20 to 80.[4]
Historical references to a “Park City Hospital” in Utah date to the early 1900s, when a house built in 1898 was leased to serve as a medical facility for miners. That facility became obsolete when the Miners Hospital was built in 1904.[5] A separate Park City Hospital existed in Bridgeport, Connecticut, founded in 1924 and closed in 1993.[6] Neither of these historical institutions is connected to the current Park City Hospital in Utah.
Meaning and Symbolism
Regarding the 2023 Intermountain Health rebrand, the organization stated that the three colors in the new logo were meant to make the brand feel trusted, bold, and approachable to customers.[3]
