Khoros, LLC is an enterprise customer engagement software company formed in 2019 through the merger of Spredfast and Lithium Technologies. The company’s visual identity was introduced alongside its new name on March 5, 2019, when the combined firm publicly announced its rebranding.[1]
Design and History
The Khoros trademark, filed with the USPTO on March 5, 2019, and registered on November 19, 2019, consists of the stylized word “KHOROS” in a stylized font with a capitalized “K” and lowercase remaining letters, followed by a logo mark. The USPTO description of the mark documents it as “a quarter spherical arc transposed over another quarter spherical arc, the curvature of the first arching upwards and the curvature of the second arching downwards.”[2][3]
The identity was created as part of the merger between Spredfast and Lithium Technologies, which had been combined under Vista Equity Partners ownership in late 2018 before formally adopting the Khoros name in March 2019.[4] Khoros’s chief marketing officer, Katherine Calvert, described the rebranding as necessary to match the company’s market position: “If we wanted the market to see us as a robust platform, we needed a brand and a story to match.”[4]
Following the launch, Khoros rolled the new branding across its product interfaces. A May 2019 release note announced that the Khoros Care interface (formerly Lithium SMM/Response) would receive a visual refresh to “match the new overall brand look and feel,” including a darker navigation bar displaying the Khoros logo.[5] A subsequent update in June 2019 described further style changes aligned with the new Khoros brand.[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
The company name derives from the ancient Greek khoros, meaning chorus. According to Khoros’s official website, the chorus was “the collective voice that gave shape and meaning to the story unfolding on stage,” and the company adopted the name because customers’ voices, when orchestrated, become a powerful force for business.[7] Calvert elaborated on this origin in an interview, explaining that the khoros in Greek theater “connected directly with the audience to deliver color, context and counsel,” serving as “truth-tellers, the advice-givers and the melody makers in a dissonant world.”[4]
The USPTO filing describes only the geometric form of the mark without attributing symbolic intent.[2]
Typography and Design
The USPTO trademark record confirms that the wordmark uses a stylized font with a capitalized “K” and lowercase “h,” “o,” “r,” “o,” and “s.”[2] No public documentation has been found identifying the specific typeface, its designer, or the agency responsible for creating the logo. The designer attribution for the Khoros identity has not been publicly disclosed.
