ABS-CBN News Channel, commonly known as ANC, is the 24-hour English-language news channel of ABS-CBN Corporation in the Philippines. The channel’s visual identity has evolved through several distinct phases since its 1996 launch, with its current signature rhombus logo and red-and-blue color scheme introduced in a 2015 brand refresh.
Design and History
ANC traces its origins to May 1, 1996, when it launched as the Sarimanok News Network (SNN) on Sky Cable Channel 21. The channel was the brainchild of the late Eugenio “Geny” Lopez Jr., who envisioned a station that would serve as Filipinos’ primary source of news and information. In 1998, SNN merged with Sky Cable News, another Lopez-owned channel specializing in business news reporting, and in 1999 the station changed its name to ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel.[1]
On October 26, 2015, ANC underwent a brand refresh complete with a new logo and programming lineup. The design overhaul included the broadcast design of all its programs, which prominently carried the channel’s signature rhombus logo and a red-and-blue scheme intended to show a cleaner, unified look representing the holistic news experience ANC offers.[2] The refreshed colors were described as highlighting ANC’s expertise in presenting stories with context amid an ever-growing deluge of media information.[3]
Ging Reyes, then senior vice president and head of the Integrated News and Current Affairs of ABS-CBN and managing director of ANC, said of the refresh: “What viewers will see is a newer and stronger ANC with a more robust and relevant lineup of programs covering politics, business, economy, lifestyle, and entertainment.” She added that the shows would be “more visually attractive as well, better form and better substance.”[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2015 refresh retained the rhombus shape as ANC’s signature logo element while updating its colors. The red-and-blue scheme was adopted across the channel’s broadcast design to create a unified look across all programs.[2] The change was positioned as reflecting ANC’s role in delivering news with context and analysis for business leaders and decision-makers.[3]
ANC has continued to operate as a cable and digital news channel. As of 2026, the channel is available on SkyCable and Cignal Channel 27, as well as through over 200 cable operators nationwide, alongside its digital platforms including a 24/7 YouTube channel and iWant streaming service.[5]
