Veeam is a data protection and ransomware recovery company founded in 2006 by a group of engineers focused on simplifying virtual machine backup.[1] The company’s visual identity centers on a wordmark logo in a distinctive bright green, with official brand assets distributed through Veeam’s Brand Resource Center.[2]
Design and History
Veeam introduced a new logo in 2017, coinciding with the company’s 10th anniversary and its VeeamON 2017 conference in New Orleans.[3] The rebrand was described by Veeam staff as part of modernizing not just products but also the company’s image.[4] A Veeam employee noted that the company was “moving forward and modernizing not just our products but also our image” when announcing the refreshed logo.[4]
The name Veeam has a documented origin story tied to the logo’s creation. At VeeamON 2017, co-founder Ratmir Timashev revealed that the name indicates the time the founders were creating the logo: they were sitting together at 5:33 in the morning. Read in a different way, the old logo spells V (5), EE (33), AM (am).[5] This account was echoed on Veeam’s official forums, where a company representative stated that one of the co-founders woke up at 5:33am on a digital clock, the moment he got the idea.[6] An alternative explanation, that the name comes from the phonetic pronunciation of “VM” (virtual machine), has also circulated among community members.[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
Veeam’s official color palette is documented in its brand guidelines. The primary brand color, named “Viridis,” is specified as hexadecimal #00D15F, with CMYK 71 0 84 0 and Pantone 2420 C.[2] The palette also includes black and white as primary colors, along with a complementary palette of Lime, Mint, Pine, Dark Mineral, French Grey, and Fog, plus a secondary palette of Sol, Tiger, Casia, Electric Azure, Sky, and Ignis.[2]
Typography and Design
Veeam’s official font is called “ES Build.” The company distributes it upon request through its Brand Resource Center, where interested parties must email Veeam with their agency name and contact details to receive installation instructions for Windows and macOS.[2] The Brand Resource Center also offers multiple variations of the official logo for download, along with animated logo versions for video projects and an all-in-one resource bundle containing brand guidelines and logo packages.[2]
