Incheon United FC is a professional football club based in Incheon, South Korea, founded in 2003 and competing in K League 1, the top flight of South Korean football.[1] The club’s visual identity is built around its oval crest, which appears on the left chest of the team’s match shirts.[2]
Design and History
The Incheon United crest is an oval emblem with a thick yellow border, containing blue and black vertical stripes.[3] The abbreviation “IUFC” appears at the top of the crest, identifying the club by its initials.[3] The club’s traditional colors are blue and black, which have been a consistent feature of its home kits, including the vertical stripe design worn in recent seasons.[2][4]
In 2026, the club unveiled a new uniform collection described as the “New Dawn” series. The first kit retained the signature blue and black colors, with a design where black at the bottom of the jersey gradually transitions to a brighter blue.[4] The club also introduced braille markings for visually impaired supporters on its uniforms, a feature first introduced by Incheon in 2023 among domestic professional sports teams, applied under the front emblem.[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The crest incorporates three symbolic elements tied to the city of Incheon. A ship’s anchor represents the city’s identity as a major South Korean port city. A ship’s wheel represents the citizens of Incheon, while wings represent the businesses that drive the city’s development. Together, these three elements are intended to symbolize the unity of these three aspects of Incheon.[3]
Blue is also described as a color symbolic of Incheon itself, representing the city’s sky and sea, and has been used as the main hue in the club’s uniform designs.[5]
