Karlslunds IF FK is the men’s football section of the Swedish multi-sport club Karlslunds IF, based in the Karlslund neighbourhood of western Örebro.[1] The parent club was founded on 27 April 1920.[2] At the club’s annual meeting in 2020, members voted to change the football section’s name from HFK (HerrFotbollKlubb, or men’s football club) to FK (FotbollKlubb, or football club).[3]
Design and History
The club’s traditional colours are red and blue.[2] The men’s team plays in red shirts with blue trim, and the club’s identity is built around this red-and-blue scheme.[4]
Karlslunds IF FK is the men’s football section of the parent Karlslunds IF organisation, which runs programmes across eight different sports in Örebro.[5] The football section operates under the same club identity as the wider association.
Meaning and Symbolism
One notable identity change occurred at the sister club KIF Örebro DFF, the women’s football section that was formerly branded with the Karlslunds name. In March 2021, KIF Örebro members voted to adopt a new club identity, removing “Karlslunds IF” from its logo and replacing the founding year 1920 with 1980, the year women’s football began within Karlslunds IF.[6] This change applied to the women’s club only and does not affect the men’s Karlslunds IF FK identity.
Typography and Design
The club’s official website and team pages display the crest, but no source detailing its design process or typeface was located.[7]
