Tegevajaro Miyazaki (テゲバジャーロ宮崎) is a Japanese football club based in Miyazaki Prefecture, competing in the J2 League since 2026 after joining the J3 League in 2021. The club’s official colors are white and pink, as registered with the J.League. [1]
Design and History
The current Tegevajaro Miyazaki emblem was introduced in 2017, when the club announced a new team structure and renewed both its emblem and uniforms ahead of a push for promotion to the Japan Football League. [2] That same year, the club changed its team color from red to white, selecting white as a color symbolizing the season slogan “真摯” (sincerity) and intended to feel familiar to local residents. [3]
The club’s official profile describes the emblem’s four corner elements: the upper left features a silhouette of Miyazaki beef (Miyazaki-gyu) representing “cow,” the lower left shows a torii gate referencing Miyazaki as the home of Japanese mythology, the upper right depicts the sun of Miyazaki, and the lower right shows a silhouette of the Miyazaki jitokko chicken representing “bird.” The club states these elements were arranged to express the character of Miyazaki. [4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The emblem’s imagery directly reflects the club’s name. “Tegevajaro” combines the Miyazaki dialect word “tege” (meaning “amazing” or “great”) with the Spanish words “vaca” (cow) and “pájaro” (bird). The name carries the wish that the team would charge forward boldly like a cow and soar high like a bird. [1] The cow and bird motifs in the emblem correspond to Miyazaki’s local specialties, Miyazaki beef and Miyazaki jitokko chicken. [5]
Some descriptions of the emblem also identify a magatama (comma-shaped bead) among its elements, alongside the Miyazaki beef, sun, torii gate of Miyazaki Shrine, and jitokko chicken. [6]
