The 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam 71 e.V., commonly known as Turbine Potsdam, is a German women’s football club based in Potsdam, Brandenburg. The club’s official colors are blue and white, as registered with the German Football Association (DFB).[1] The team plays home matches in an all-blue kit and uses an all-white kit for away matches.[2]
Design and History
The club traces its origins to March 5, 1971, when a women’s football department was founded within the Betriebssportgemeinschaft (BSG) Turbine Potsdam.[3] The current legal entity, 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam 71 e.V., was founded on April 1, 1999.[1]
The badge is circular in form. Its outer edge is a dark blue ring bearing the club name, split across the top and bottom of the circle.[2] Within the ring, the left side displays an eagle taken from the coat of arms of the state of Brandenburg.[2] The upper right section shows a football, and the lower right section contains the letters “TP,” standing for Turbine Potsdam.[2] Three stars appear on each of the left and right sides of the badge; these stars do not carry a specific meaning.[2]
Meaning and Symbolism
The eagle in the crest is the most directly documented symbolic element. It is drawn from the state coat of arms of Brandenburg, connecting the club to its regional home.[2] The football icon identifies the sport, while the “TP” monogram anchors the badge to the club’s name.[2]
