ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation, commonly known as CTC, is a Japanese IT services company headquartered in Tokyo. Its brand logo combines the logotype “CTC” with the corporate identity message line “Challenging Tomorrow’s Changes.” The company was established in 1972 and adopted its current name in 2006 following a merger.[1]
Design and History
The current CTC brand logo was introduced in 2006. In September of that year, the company announced it would roll out a new logo starting October 1, coinciding with the merger of ITOCHU Techno-Science (CTC) and CRC Solutions and the resulting name change to ITOCHU Techno-Solutions.[2] The merger was announced in May 2006, with the new company retaining the CTC abbreviation.[3]
According to the company’s official corporate philosophy page, the brand logo consists of the CTC logotype and the “Challenging Tomorrow’s Changes” message line. The gradation applied to the CTC logotype is described as representing “the dynamism and trustworthiness of a company that speedily adapts to the times.”[4]
In 2024, CTC revised its group corporate philosophy effective August 1, 2024. The revision clarified the meaning of “Challenging Tomorrow’s Changes” and reaffirmed it as the company’s corporate identity, while also introducing a new corporate message.[5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The triangle at the beginning of the “Challenging Tomorrow’s Changes” message line is described by the company as emphasizing CTC’s mission while giving the logomark “a sense of lively movement toward a bright future.”[4]
The company’s Japanese-language philosophy page elaborates that the gradation in the CTC logotype expresses the dynamism and trustworthiness of a company that responds speedily to changing times. The triangle point is said to make the company’s mission stand out and give the entire logomark a sense of vitality moving toward a bright future.[6]
In a corporate advertisement announcing the company’s launch, CTC stated that the new logomark carried the company’s “passionate feelings,” with bold, stable lettering and a gradation expressing the dynamism and trustworthiness of a company that responds speedily to changes in the world.[7]
For its 50th anniversary in 2022, CTC used a separate commemorative logo selected from designs submitted by employees across the CTC Group. The anniversary mark used five overlapping squares, each representing ten years, with colorful tones intended to convey respect for diverse values and a commitment to contributing to a bright future.[8]
