Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) is an Indonesian telecommunications provider formed in January 2022 through the merger of Indosat Ooredoo and PT Hutchison 3 Indonesia. The company’s current logo, introduced with the merger, pairs lowercase sans-serif wordmark text with three overlapping circles in red, turquoise, and yellow.
Design and History
The current Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison logo was unveiled in early January 2022 following the merger of the two telecom operators. The design features the wordmark “indosat ooredoo hutchison” in lowercase letters, with the words “OOREDOO HUTCHISON” set in capital letters beneath it. In the upper right corner, three overlapping circles appear: one large red circle and two smaller circles in turquoise and yellow.[1]
According to the company’s official brand page, the logo symbolizes the fusion of two major Asian telecom companies united to drive Indonesia’s digital future. The bold, intersecting circles are described as expressing strength, collaboration, and optimism.[2]
Before this merger, Indosat had undergone several identity changes. In November 2015, the company rebranded from Indosat to Indosat Ooredoo, introducing a new logo with a yellow background and red elements to reflect its new ownership by Qatar-based Ooredoo. Company executives described the new identity as representing a young, dynamic spirit and a brand Indonesia could be proud of with international exposure.[3]
Earlier, in February 2005, Indosat launched a logo featuring a symbol dubbed the “Techno Flower,” created from three combined ellipses. The design consultancy Landor Associates developed the mark, which replaced a previous logo consisting of black type and a blue circle. The three ellipses were intended to reflect interaction and current trends in communication business, projecting a friendlier and more approachable image.[4][5]
Meaning and Symbolism
In the current logo, the three circles carry specific brand associations. The turquoise circle represents Hutchison, while the yellow circle represents Ooredoo. Both overlap against the larger red circle, symbolizing the formation of a stronger, larger company aimed at accelerating Indonesia’s digital transformation.[6]
Company statements around the 2022 launch described the three circles as representing a “bigger, bolder, and better” spirit emerging from the merger, with the capital-letter treatment of “OOREDOO HUTCHISON” indicating the two principal shareholders empowering the company.[7]
Typography and Design
The current logo uses a sans-serif lowercase wordmark for the primary “indosat ooredoo hutchison” text, with the secondary line “OOREDOO HUTCHISON” rendered in capital letters at a smaller size beneath it.[1] The overlapping circle arrangement sits to the upper right of the wordmark, creating a compact lockup that works across digital and print applications.
