Dsquared2’s name is its most recognizable visual element: an uppercase DSQUARED2 wordmark shown in black on white in the brand’s online store. The store also shows Dsquared2 lettering on garments. The brand’s online store offers examples of the wordmark in use.

Meaning and history
Identical twin designers Dean and Dan Caten created the label. They moved to Milan in 1991, bringing Canadian roots to a Milan-based fashion house. Business of Fashion’s profile covers the founders’ background and early career.

1995 – 2012
This stage shows thin, outlined uppercase lettering, with the numeral 2 at the end of the name. The first men’s collection is dated to 1995 by WWD and to 1994 by Business of Fashion, so the stage heading’s starting year should not be read as a settled debut date. WWD’s anniversary feature and Business of Fashion’s profile give the respective dates.

2012 – Today
Here the outlined letters give way to a much heavier, solid black wordmark on white. The bold treatment is also visible in the brand’s online store, where the name serves as a clear identifier in commerce.

Emblem
This graphic reduces the lettering to a red D and 2. Its color and compact form distinguish it from the full black wordmark.

Font and Color
The images show contrasting approaches to the name: outlined black lettering, a heavy black wordmark, and red graphic treatments. Another image pairs Dsquared2 lettering with a red maple-leaf shape, adding a pictorial element absent from the wordmark alone.

Seasonal graphics can add a separate visual treatment. Brand-issued Spring/Summer 2026 press material describes the ICON motif reimagined as ICONique and a newly created logo for capsule pieces. The collection press material describes that capsule treatment.
