Helly Hansen Logo PNG
Helly Hansen’s logo combines the brand name with an “HH” monogram: two H letterforms divided by a diagonal stroke. Its red-and-white presentation pairs the symbol with an uppercase HELLY HANSEN wordmark. The initials correspond to the name, without needing a separate symbolic reading.
The Norwegian company began in Moss in 1877, founded by sea captain Helly Juell Hansen and his wife Margarethe, making water-resistant clothing and canvas goods. Helly Hansen recounts its early history and products in its company history.
Meaning and history

This composite presents three versions as a visual sequence. Its year labels are archive labels rather than independently documented dates for logo changes. Across the images, the name moves from flowing script to uppercase lettering, while the paired H forms become a prominent emblem.
1969 – 1989

The archive’s first stage shows “Helly-Hansen” in connected cursive lettering inside a rectangular frame. The framed script is the most letterform-led version here; it has no separate HH emblem.
1989 – 2015

In this archive stage, the script gives way to a bold uppercase wordmark. Above it, two large H forms are split by a diagonal gap. The symbol and name are separate elements, and the red letters stand alone against a light background.
2015 – Today

This stage shows the HH monogram in white within a red square, with HELLY HANSEN set beneath it and a registered mark beside the symbol. The brand continues to use a red-and-white monogram-and-wordmark identity; Kontoor Brands’ acquisition announcement uses the name Helly Hansen® and documents the transaction, which closed in May 2025 (Kontoor Brands; completion report).
The main visual shift is how the elements relate: framed script, then a separate emblem and wordmark, then a compact square containing the monogram above the name. The two H letterforms and diagonal remain the clearest recurring features. The square version also lets the symbol stand out independently when the full name is not shown.
Logo history should be distinguished from advertising history. Campaign reported that Grey London took over Helly Hansen’s global creative account in 2015 from Forsman & Bodenfors, with the agency’s first work appearing in September 2016; that report concerns marketing, not a documented logo redesign (Campaign).
