Henri-Lloyd logo history
Henri-Lloyd is a British sailing and weatherproof apparel brand founded in 1963 in Salford by Henri Strzelecki and Angus Lloyd. Its name combines the founders’ first names, and the hyphen is part of the brand styling. The Guardian’s obituary of Strzelecki describes the company’s beginnings in a converted chapel. The brand’s own history highlights technical clothing innovations including hand-taped seams and early use of Velcro.
The archive’s sequence moves from a blue badge with a crown-and-wreath device between the words to simpler treatments of the name. Its dated labels provide a visual timeline; the documented design milestone is the clean logo launched in 2019.

???? – 2004

A blue rectangle frames white serif capitals, with a gold crown inside a laurel wreath between “HENRI” and “LLOYD.” The lettering and emblem form one compact badge, with the decorative device at the centre.
2004 – 2011

This version removes the blue rectangle but keeps the name and crown-and-wreath emblem in a single horizontal arrangement. Grey lettering and emblem replace the earlier white-and-gold contrast, giving the mark a more restrained appearance.
2011 – 2022

This archive stage sits across the period that includes Henri-Lloyd’s documented 2019 logo launch. On 29 May 2019 the brand unveiled a “new clean logo” with a limited-edition capsule collection. The launch presented the change as a return to heritage and a fresh start, as Sail-World reported from the brand’s release. Habit credited the design collaboration to Gothenburg agency Right Thing United and Simon Syren.
2022 – Today

The image shows a black, widely spaced uppercase wordmark on white, with a diagonal hyphen. Unlike the earlier badge, it has no visible crown-and-wreath device. Odlo’s acquisition of Henri-Lloyd was announced in July 2022, a distinct ownership event rather than evidence of a logo launch, as FashionNetwork reported.
Together, the images show a shift from a framed, emblem-led badge toward simpler lettering. The 2019 launch supplies a documented point in that visual story, while the archive stages offer comparisons of the marks themselves.
