John Galliano Logo PNG
The John Galliano logo belongs to the fashion label founded by designer John Galliano, not to Maison Margiela, where he later worked as creative director. Galliano launched his namesake label in London in 1984; it established itself in Paris in 1994 and entered the Christian Dior Couture and LVMH sphere in 1996, according to Business of Fashion, FashionNetwork and The Cut.
Meaning and history

The label’s documented visual history has two distinct styles: ornate gothic lettering described in fashion coverage as “gazette” or newspaper-like, followed by a different wordmark introduced in 2015. The change replaced the earlier decorative character with a more restrained design.
1984 – 2011

The earlier identity used elaborate gothic lettering with a dense, masthead-like appearance. Vogue UK reported that the logo had been in use since 2000, while other trade reporting connects the style with the label’s creation. The exact start date is therefore unsettled; the “1984” in this stage heading should not be read as a confirmed logo launch date.
2015 – Today

In 2015, the label introduced a wordmark developed by Atelier Franck Durand, drawing on a 19th-century wood engraving. Vogue UK and FashionUnited reported the design credit and reference. The new direction was described as “refined and raw,” a deliberate departure from the gothic gazette lettering.
The redesign extended to the label’s presentation: packaging used kraft and pattern-cutting paper with gold lettering. The relaunch was presented in Paris on 25 June 2015 under a new licence with Modalis, as FashionNetwork reported. The 2015 wordmark is the last identity documented in the cited coverage, but that does not establish that it remains in use today.
The two styles mark separate visual approaches: the earlier lettering is ornate and gothic, while the 2015 design refers to engraving and was paired with a more restrained packaging system. The label’s last owned boutique closed in 2019, and trade publication LaConceria described the Maison John Galliano mark as dormant. John Galliano’s later Maison Margiela role was a separate chapter; OTB Group announced a new creative director for that house in 2025.
