Lululemon Logo PNG
Founded in Vancouver in 1998 by Denis “Chip” Wilson, lululemon is an athletic apparel brand and retailer. Its visual identity is built around a circular emblem and a lowercase wordmark. The two appear together in the main combination mark, while the emblem can also stand alone. The brand’s guidelines describe the emblem as a secondary mark and the wordmark as a tertiary element (guidelines reproduced here).
Meaning and history
The brand’s former history page, quoted by Seventeen, said the name was selected after a survey of 100 people presented with 20 names and 20 logos. The same account linked the emblem to “Athletically Hip,” a name that did not win the survey.
1998 – Today

The identity is documented as a continuing pairing of the circular symbol and lowercase wordmark, rather than as a series of dated redesigns. A US trademark filing records use claimed at least as early as 1999 and a registration issued on August 13, 2002 (USPTO record). Canadian design registrations name lululemon athletica canada inc. as owner and were registered in May 2026 (Canadian record).
What does the emblem represent?
The explanations differ. The former brand history described the emblem as a stylized “A” associated with “Athletically Hip.” By contrast, lululemon’s brand guidelines call it “an omega symbol within a red circle” and note the internal nickname “yogo” (guidelines reproduced here). These are distinct documented descriptions; neither changes the visible construction of the mark.
Wordmark and colour

The wordmark uses lowercase letters. The guideline excerpt does not identify a typeface, so the lettering is best described by what is visible rather than assigned a font name.

The circular emblem is commonly shown in red, with black or white versions also specified in the guidelines. The guidance describes a full-colour version for most applications, white for red or photographic backgrounds, and black for single-colour printing and light backgrounds. The red’s published hex values are approximations, not an official specification.
The identity today
A 2025 identity refresh under Ravi Hampole, then SVP Global Brand Creative, updated the wider brand system while retaining the circular emblem and lowercase wordmark as its core identity (reported in an interview with Hampole).
