Meaning and history

Parajumpers’ identity combines a bold, straightforward wordmark with a detailed crest and garment patches. The brand’s name and rescue-themed details refer to the 210th Rescue Squadron in Anchorage, Alaska, whose personnel are nicknamed “PJs,” short for Parajumpers, according to the brand’s history page.

2006 – Today

The archive presents one continuous identity stage beginning in 2006, rather than a sequence of dated redesigns. A 2018 interview describes the brand’s Masterpiece outerwear style as unchanged since its founding year; that continuity is also reflected in the simple wordmark and recurring rescue-inspired details. The brand was founded in 2006, as reported by Milanofinanza.

The wordmark shown here consists of the name in bold, uppercase sans-serif lettering. Its uncluttered form contrasts with the more intricate crest used in the broader identity.

Emblem and patches

The crest combines a globe, a bird and the prominent initials “PJS” within a badge-shaped design. Retail product copy describes the crest as depicting the 210th Rescue Squadron, while the brand’s own history connects its identity to that unit; the image alone does not establish the crest’s official status or provenance.

Garment patches carry the rescue theme into the clothing. The brand identifies “That Others May Live” as the motto on its logo patch and describes a shoulder patch bearing the initials PJS. These are product details, distinct from the wordmark itself.

Rescue-inspired details and color

Yellow is a recurring accent, with orange also appearing on product details. The brand describes a yellow elastic collar strap as inspired by a parachute hook, and reports yellow and orange accents in its clothing identity. When it opened its first store, in SoHo, New York, in 2022, the interior used yellow and orange tubing that echoed the parachute-cord motif, WWD reported.

The 210th Rescue Squadron is an inspiration for the name and visual story, not an owner of the clothing brand. Parajumpers’ own account links the “PJs” nickname and the motto to the squadron and its rescue work.

Origins

Parajumpers was founded in 2006 by Ape & Partners and designer Massimo Rossetti; Ape & Partners later took the Parajumpers name. FashionNetwork reports that the company remains family-run by the Paulon brothers. Retail listings give conflicting founding dates, so this account follows the 2006 date supported by the brand and trade coverage.
