The Pierre Cardin identity combines a handwritten signature with a compact emblem and a lowercase wordmark. In the current mark, an outlined spiral form sits beside the bold words “pierre cardin.” The house also uses the founder’s script signature as a distinct treatment of the name.
Meaning and history

The fashion house was founded in Paris in 1950, and its marks have appeared across a broad range of licensed products. A 2025 company profile from Business France describes the maison’s multi-category reach.

The handwritten “Pierre Cardin” signature is a flowing script name. Its letterforms are visibly different from the bold, lowercase lettering of the current wordmark. The material here supports a visual comparison, not a date for when the signature first appeared.

The current-stage image shows an outlined spiral emblem beside a lowercase “pierre cardin” wordmark. Rather than reading as a conventional circular badge, the emblem has a squared outer contour and a curling inner line. A design editorial describes the form as a black P creating a white C in negative space; in a separate interview, CEO Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin offered a wine-glass and dress interpretation. These are attributed readings, not a documented design brief. A 2025 Business France profile describes the historic signature and emblem identity as continuing in use.
Signature, emblem and wordmark
The signature gives the name a handwritten appearance, while the current emblem and wordmark form a more compact, structured lockup. The visible wordmark uses lowercase letters; the available documentation does not identify its typeface. The house’s eyewear partnership with Safilo began in 1991 and was renewed through 2031, according to FashionUnited’s report on the joint announcement.
Pierre Cardin died in 2020, aged 98. AFP reported that his grand-nephew Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin leads the house; the current identity remains associated with the maison under that leadership.
