Ambrosus (AMB) was a blockchain-based ecosystem designed for supply chain management, combining IoT sensors with distributed ledger technology to verify product quality, safety and origins, particularly in food and pharmaceutical industries.[1] The project was founded in July 2017 with headquarters in Zug, Switzerland.[1] In 2022, the Ambrosus ecosystem underwent a rebranding and transitioned to AirDAO, a community-governed blockchain and ecosystem of web3 dApps powered by the same native token, AMB.[2]
Design and History
The Ambrosus logo was distributed through official press releases from Ambrosus Technologies GmbH, with the company’s logo image hosted on PR Newswire’s media server.[3] The mark was used across the company’s corporate communications, including announcements about its developer portal, gateway API and SDK releases.[4]
In November 2021, Ambrosus announced a new logo and website at ambrosus.io.[5] The following year, in June 2022, the project’s leadership acknowledged that the Ambrosus brand “lacks resonance with the rapidly growing blockchain and crypto landscape” and launched an open branding initiative that gave AMB token holders a voice in updating the ecosystem’s brand.[2]
On 15 September 2022, AirDAO publicly launched with a new website, integrated product dashboard, multichain bridge and block explorer, “all complete with new branding.”[6] The transition was described as part of an “Ambrosus 3.0” mission that began in March 2022.[7] The rebranding process continued through late 2022 and into early 2023, during which the AMB-net L1 network name was changed to AirDAO.[8]
Meaning and Symbolism
The visual identity was distributed through press materials, but the organization did not publish a documented explanation of the mark’s design intent.
Typography and Design
No official documentation specifying the typography, color values or construction details of the Ambrosus logo was found. The logo was made available in vector formats for download, and versions in black and white were distributed for use on different backgrounds.[9] A community-created cryptocurrency icon for Ambrosus was designed by Christopher Downer as part of a public domain icon pack, though this is not an official Ambrosus asset.[10]
