AirSwap is a peer-to-peer trading network for Ethereum tokens, initially built on the Swap Protocol.[1] The project was founded in 2017 as a joint venture between ConsenSys and Fluidity, with the goal of creating tools that enable traders and developers to interact with and build on top of the protocol.[2] The AirSwap token (AST) serves as the network’s governance token.
Design and History
The AirSwap logo that is most widely recognized today was introduced at the completion of the initial roadmap in May 2018.[3] According to AirSwap Improvement Proposal (AIP) 9, this mark had become the most popular AirSwap logo, appearing on branded merchandise such as t-shirts and hoodies, and had been translated into a variety of languages including Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese.[3]
In November 2020, AIP 9 proposed a website and social media visual refresh based on this logo, noting that the existing branding had not been updated meaningfully in about 18 months.[3] The proposal recommended embracing minimalism and orienting the network brand around the logo that had made AirSwap swag popular within the crypto community.[3] The refresh was packaged with other proposals for the Phase II launch in January 2021.[4]
The AirSwap brand color is documented as #2B71FF, a blue tone recorded in the Dune Analytics project repository for AirSwap.[5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The AirSwap mark is a minimalist, geometric symbol formed from angular lines that create a stylized, kite-like diamond with an abstract swooping shape.[6] The open, outline-based construction of the symbol conveys a sense of permissionless access and composability, aligning with the principles underlying decentralized finance.[6] The diamond-like contour can be read as a stylized representation of a token or digital asset, while the curved, wing-like stroke inside suggests flow and liquidity.[6]
The blue gradient used in the logo moves from deeper to lighter tones, and the visual continuity makes the symbol adaptable across digital interfaces, wallets, exchanges, and educational materials.[6]
Typography and Design
No official documentation has been published identifying the specific typeface used in the AirSwap wordmark. The logo is available in vector SVG format for use across digital platforms.[7]
