Bytom (BTM) is the native token of the Bytom blockchain protocol, a public blockchain designed for asset management and interaction between digital and physical assets. The project, which began as Bytom Blockchain Protocol, has undergone significant identity changes alongside its technical evolution, including a rebranding in 2021 and a later transition to BytomDAO.
Design and History
In August 2021, the Bytom project announced a rebranding that accompanied the launch of Bytom 2.0. The official weekly report noted that the team had made “subtle but very good changes” to the project logo, describing the rebrand as marking “a significant evolution of the mission, product and brand of Bytom.” The announcement coincided with the launch of the Bytom 2.0 website and the project’s shift toward a new phase of development.[1]
In November 2023, Bytom released a new version of its white paper, announcing a transition to a third phase called Bytom DAO. The original Bytom blockchain was scheduled to cease operation, with the project moving toward a DAO model focused on GenAI technology.[2] The project’s official website subsequently became bytomdao.org, reflecting the organizational shift.[3]
Brand asset listings for the project show a color palette that includes a green-yellow tone (hex #D0FF35) alongside darker shades, though no official designer or agency attribution for the logo has been publicly documented.[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
Documented symbolism for the Bytom logo is limited. The project’s Chinese name, 比原链 (Bytom), refers to its positioning as a blockchain protocol for “byte assets,” with the original vision of connecting the “atomic world” (physical assets) with the “bit world” (digital assets).[5]
