HEX is a cryptocurrency project launched on December 2, 2019 by Richard Heart and team, operating as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network. It is described as the first certificate of deposit on the blockchain, functioning as time deposits that gain interest.[1] The project’s official website is hex.com.[2]
Design and History
The HEX visual identity centers on a hexagon-shaped logo mark. A trademark filing for the related “HEX DECENTRALIZE EVERYTHING” branding, registered to Hashgraph Inc., describes the mark as consisting of the wording “HEX” in larger font with the wording “Decentralize Everything” in smaller font, both in black, accompanied by a black hexagon logo.[3] The hexagon shape is a direct visual reference to the project’s name.
In 2022, Richard Heart purchased “The Enigma,” described as the world’s largest cut diamond, and renamed it “The HEX.COM Diamond.”[2] This acquisition connected the brand’s visual identity to a physical asset bearing its name.
Meaning and Symbolism
The hexagon form in the HEX logo directly echoes the project’s name and its six-sided geometric structure. The trademark registration for the related “HEX DECENTRALIZE EVERYTHING” mark places the hexagon as the central graphic element alongside the wordmark.[3] The tagline “Decentralize Everything” communicates the project’s positioning within the broader cryptocurrency and decentralized finance space.
