Belden Inc., the St. Louis-based network and data infrastructure solutions provider, introduced a new corporate brand identity in December 2024. The rebrand, developed in partnership with brand strategy agency Joe Smith Co., repositioned the company from a connectivity products supplier to a provider of complete connection solutions integrating hardware, software, services and expertise.[1] The updated identity included new messaging, an updated logo and visual identity, and a redesigned website.[2]
Design and History
Belden’s rebrand was announced in November 2024 and rolled out publicly on December 2, 2024.[2][3] The company’s CEO, Ashish Chand, described the rebrand as reflecting Belden’s commitment to providing complete connection solutions, noting that “making connections has been our purpose from the beginning in 1902.”[2]
The brand evolution was informed by extensive research involving nearly 500 participants globally, including Belden employees, partners and customers, who helped shape the new brand platform “Connect to what’s possible.”[1] The work included developing a new visual identity and simplifying a complex portfolio of product brands.[1]
According to Joe Smith Co., the previous Belden look was “bulky and industrial,” and the new identity evolved to be “sophisticated and tech-y.”[4] The agency also noted that the brand needed to move away from blue, as “almost all the major players in the industry were swimming in the same corner of the color spectrum.”[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The current Belden logo mark consists of three parallel lines that form a lowercase “b.”[3] According to Belden, the three lines represent the company’s three pillars of connecting people, information and ideas, and they “weave around to create a lower case ‘b.'”[3] Joe Smith Co. describes the mark as symbolizing “the way Belden brings together people, information and ideas to create something greater than the sum of its parts.”[4]
The most significant element of the logo is the negative space at the center of the “b,” which Belden calls the “window into what’s possible.”[3] This negative space becomes the motif for the entire visual system, extrapolated into a recurring graphic device that visualizes how Belden makes connections to enable impactful outcomes.[4]
Typography and Design
Joe Smith Co. describes the new Belden color palette as “sleek, modern and marked with pops of vibrant purple,” a deliberate departure from the blue-heavy palettes common among competitors in the network infrastructure industry.[4] The agency’s project page lists visual identity, brand roll-out, and packaging and environment design among the capabilities delivered for the rebrand.[4]
The rebrand earned Gold at the Transform Awards North America 2025 for Best Brand Evolution (Corporate), recognizing the strategic repositioning from product supplier to solutions partner.[1]
