Enagás, S.A. is a Spanish energy infrastructure company headquartered in Madrid, specializing in the transmission, storage, and regasification of natural gas, as well as the development of hydrogen and other energy transition projects.[1] The company’s current visual identity was introduced in 2002, created by the Barcelona-based design studio Ferrán Sendra.[2]
Design and History
In June 2002, Enagás unveiled a new corporate identity to adapt its image to a new business reality, coinciding with the company’s initial public offering process.[2] The redesign was commissioned to Estudio de Diseño Ferrán Sendra, which created an image described as closer and more approachable for the company as it opened up to new shareholders.[2]
The rollout of the new identity began at the company’s Madrid headquarters and was progressively applied across its regasification plants in Barcelona, Cartagena, and Huelva, as well as its compression stations, maintenance centers, underground storage facility in Serrablo (Huesca), pipeline surface markers, and vehicle fleet.[2]
Meaning and Symbolism
The symbol of the 2002 logo directly reflects the company’s activity. The lower arc uses the tail of the lowercase “g” in “Enagás” to simulate the underground pipes of the natural gas pipelines through which gas is transported. The upper semicircle represents the company’s active policy of respect for the environment.[2]
The two colors used in the identity are closely tied to Enagás’s business: blue, the color commonly used to represent gas, and green, associated with ecology, since natural gas is described as a clean and environmentally respectful energy.[2] The company’s official press room offers downloadable versions of the Enagás logotype, including an RGB version.[3]
