NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, unveiled a new 50-year anniversary logo on November 7, 2024, during its 50th Raising Day celebrations at the Engineering Office Complex in Noida. The mark was introduced alongside the company’s milestone anniversary, which commemorated five decades since its establishment in 1975.[1]
Design and History
The 50-year logo was unveiled by NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh during the Raising Day ceremony.[1] According to NTPC’s official communications, the logo features an infinity loop with a fluidic nature, designed to reflect the company’s legacy and contribution to India’s progress.[2]
The anniversary mark was also recreated as a sand art installation at Puri Beach in Odisha by international sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik to commemorate the milestone.[2]
Meaning and Symbolism
NTPC’s official description of the 50-year logo provides specific documented symbolism. The infinity loop and fluid nature of the logo signify the company’s “everlasting commitment to growth and excellence,” resonating with 50 years of powering growth and creating infinite possibilities.[2]
The color palette carries explicit meaning as well. According to NTPC, the blue color signifies “the trust and reliability of our thermal roots,” while the green color represents the company’s “bold strides in renewable energy.”[2] This dual-color scheme reflects NTPC’s transition from its traditional thermal power generation base toward a broader energy portfolio that includes renewable sources.[1]
