Akatsuki Inc. is a Japanese entertainment and technology company founded in June 2010, operating across entertainment, lifestyle, and solutions businesses.[1] The company name comes from the Japanese word “暁 (akatsuki),” meaning dawn, carrying the meaning of bringing a new dawn to the world.[2]
Design and History
Akatsuki’s previous corporate logo represented a radiant sun, created with a colorful palette that expressed the company’s desire to be “a team where diverse and colorful individualities blend together.”[2] The symbol mark featured ten colors arranged in a circular formation, reflecting the company’s value of individuals connecting while maintaining their diversity.[3]
In November 2025, Akatsuki announced a new corporate logo to mark its 15th anniversary. The company set a new mission, “With sensibility and technology, we will make the world more fun and abundant,” and a new vision called “Challengers’ Community.”[4] The new logo features a bold typeface expressing the will to continue creating value in society, with an arrow symbol representing the sense of speed in taking on new challenges.[2] The colorful palette was retained from the previous mark, while the new design expresses momentum for bold challenges and corporate stability.[4]
Separately, Akatsuki Games Inc., a subsidiary established in April 2022, changed its corporate logo in August 2023. That logo places an asymmetrical motif inside the letter “A” to express co-creation with diverse individualities, with red at the center representing the passion and strength to move forward toward the world.[5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The previous Akatsuki corporate logo represented a radiant sun, with its colorful design conveying the wish to be an organization where “diverse individualities overlap, bring out each other’s strengths, and shine brighter.”[4] The new logo’s color scale is inspired by the idea of a team where diverse and colorful individualities blend together.[2]
Typography and Design
In 2016, Akatsuki adopted the AXIS font for its corporate website and creative tools. The company’s creative directors chose AXIS for its strength to support visual elements, high legibility, and the sense of atmosphere the typeface carries. They also valued the unity between Japanese and English letterforms, which supported the company’s global expansion plans.[3]
