Yeah! Indie Club is a music venue in Girona, Catalonia, Spain, known for its focus on indie and underground music. Its visual identity was created by Barcelona-based graphic designer Quim Marin, who has worked with the club on multiple projects over the years.

Design and History

The club’s logo is built from a simple line-drawn letter “Y,” which serves as the brand mark. The design is highly recognizable and easily adaptable for use as decorative branding elements. The identity incorporates a broad color palette and sans-serif typography, which together form the core visual language of the club in Girona. The varied color scheme is intended to reflect the diversity of musical styles featured at the venue and to evoke the festive atmosphere of club events. [1] [2]

Quim Marin, who founded Quim Marin Studio in Barcelona in 2013, has maintained a long association with the club. His work for Yeah! Indie Club has included poster designs, such as a 2016 poster advertising an evening with DJ Elektrik. [3] [4]

In 2020, when the club organized special open-air weekend events in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Marin was hired to design the identity for this new venture, called Yeah! Air. The typeface Grosa was used throughout that identity. [5]

Meaning and Symbolism

The logo’s simple “Y” mark is designed for high legibility and flexibility, allowing it to function both as a standalone logo and as a repeating decorative pattern. The extensive color palette used across the identity is meant to convey the variety of musical genres the club presents and to capture the celebratory energy of its events. [1]

Typography and Design

The Yeah! Indie Club identity relies on sans-serif typography as one of its primary visual elements. For the 2022-2023 season posters, Marin used Antikor Display by Taner Ardalı as the main typeface, with additional fonts including Recoleta and FF PicLig. [6] The 2020 Yeah! Air identity used the typeface Grosa throughout. [5]
