Wima-Produkte was a Swiss company in the natural health products sector, active in beauty and cosmetics production. Its visual identity was created in 1967 by the Swiss graphic designer Robert Geisser, a prolific creator of corporate signs and logos based in St. Gallen.[1]
Design and History
Robert Geisser (1920-1995) was a Swiss graphic artist and illustrator known for posters, signs and illustrations for newspapers, publishers and books.[2] He described his special field as advertising for institutions whose tasks and goals were of an ideal nature, translating ideas into signs with few, striking lines.[3]
The Wima-Produkte mark, dated 1967, is classified as a logotype-picture combining initials with representational and semantic elements. The design features a single letter W combined with leaf forms.[1]
Meaning and Symbolism
The leaf elements in the Wima-Produkte mark align with the company’s natural health products activity, though no documented interpretation of the specific symbolism has been published. Geisser’s broader approach was to create expressive, mostly purely linear symbols that condensed a whole conceptual structure into a few distinctive strokes.[3]
