Pfeiffer Vacuum, the German manufacturer of vacuum pumps and vacuum technology, introduced a new name and refreshed logo in October 2024, rebranding as Pfeiffer Vacuum+Fab Solutions. The company, a member of the Busch Group, announced the change to reflect its portfolio as a one-stop supplier for both vacuum solutions and semiconductor fab solutions.[1]
Design and History
The updated logo incorporates a stylistic representation of a turbopump’s rotor blade and stator blade.[1] According to the company, the imagery reflects the spirit of innovation that has defined the company and will continue to shape the vacuum industry.[2]
The introduction of the new name and logo marked the seventieth anniversary of the company’s first major innovation. The turbomolecular vacuum pump was developed at Pfeiffer between 1954 and 1955, a technology the company credits with revolutionizing the world of vacuum.[3]
Wolfgang Ehrk, CEO of Pfeiffer, described the logo as more than a trademark: “It tells our story, which began with the invention of the turbopump and became a global success.”[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The rotor and stator blade motif in the logo directly references the turbopump technology that the company invented in the 1950s. The rebranding was timed to coincide with the seventieth anniversary of that innovation, and the company stated that the logo reflects the innovative spirit that has always defined it.[2] The name change itself, adding “+Fab Solutions,” was designed to highlight the company’s semiconductor fabrication expertise alongside its traditional vacuum solutions business.[5]
