TechniSat is a German manufacturer of consumer electronics, including satellite receivers, smart TVs, DAB+ radios and connected home solutions, headquartered in Daun, Germany.[1] The company was founded in 1987 by Peter Lepper.[2]
Design and History
In July 2016, ahead of the IFA trade show in Berlin, TechniSat announced a new brand and product strategy. The company shifted its positioning from consumer entertainment electronics to connected “lifestyle electronics,” and this repositioning was reflected externally in a completely overhauled brand design.[3] The new identity included a new logo, new fresh colors and a distinctive design system intended to create a high level of brand recognition.[4] The rebrand was presented to the public at IFA in September 2016.[5]
Trade coverage at the time described the most striking change as the fully revised brand design with a new logo and new colors.[6] No designer or agency attribution for the 2016 redesign has been documented in the available sources.
Meaning and Symbolism
TechniSat’s own press materials from the 2016 rebrand describe the new identity as a manifestation of the company’s strategic shift toward connected lifestyle electronics, but they do not document specific symbolic meaning for the logo or its colors.[4] Brand asset databases list a range of colors associated with the current TechniSat identity, including dark green, fire orange and lightning yellow, though these are not confirmed by official TechniSat sources.[7]
