C-Films is a Swiss film production company based in Zurich, active in the development and production of feature films, TV series, TV movies and documentaries, with a German subsidiary, Cetera-Films GmbH, in Berlin.[1] The company was founded in 1999 by producers Peter-Christian Fueter, Peter Reichenbach and Edi Hubschmid.[2]
Design and History
The C-Films identity is distinct from the historical “C-Films” logo that appeared in films from December 2, 1974. That earlier mark, associated with a different entity, showed a yellow wave-like curve with a large “C” containing the word “FILMS” in yellow sans-serif lettering.[3] This 1974 logo is not the current mark of the Swiss C-FILMS AG, which was established in 1999.[4]
No official documentation has been found linking the 1970 German designer Ekkehart Rustmeier to the C-Films identity. Rustmeier was a graphic designer active in Germany, credited with album cover design in the early 1970s,[5] and several of his logo designs from 1970 are documented for other German brands.[6] However, no verifiable source connects him to C-Films.
Meaning and Symbolism
The current C-FILMS AG logo, as displayed on the company’s official website, uses the wordmark “C FILMS AG” in a straightforward typographic treatment.[1] No documented symbolism, color specification or design rationale for this mark has been published by the company or its designers.
