Polsat Sport Premium 1 is a Polish premium sports television channel launched on August 21, 2018, by Telewizja Polsat as part of the Polsat Sport Premium package, which also includes Polsat Sport Premium 2 and four pay-per-view services. The channel was created to broadcast UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches, and it was introduced alongside a new Super HD broadcast standard for the 2018/2019 season.[1]
Design and History
Polsat Sport Premium 1 received its current logo on August 30, 2021, when Telewizja Polsat introduced a new visual identity for 24 of its channels in a single day. The change covered the main Polsat channel, its entertainment and news channels, and all sports channels, including Polsat Sport Premium 1 and Polsat Sport Premium 2.[2]
The 2021 rebrand was part of a wider identity change across the Polsat Plus Group, which had already introduced new logos for its strategic brands, including Polsat, Plus, Polsat Box, Polsat Box Go and Polsat Go. All logos and graphic elements of the group’s strategic brands were designed to belong to the same family and resemble one another.[3]
The new visual language for the group’s brands was created by the agency Saffron Brand Consultants, which was responsible for developing the new logos, consistent emblems and the so-called “skins”.[4] The on-air design for the television channels was developed by the German creative agency Luxlotusliner, which had also produced Polsat’s previous on-air presentations.[5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The creative concept of the 2021 identity is based on the animation of sun rays, which form a common element of the new channel logos. The rays arrange into a specific pattern, identical for all stations, but rendered in a color scheme dedicated to each channel. This approach gave the channels a new, coherent visual identity while preserving their individual character.[2]
According to Luxlotusliner, the radial stripes were derived from the previous sun symbol of Polsat TV. The stripes now form a circle, which appears as a connecting element across all Polsat TV channels and other Polsat brands. Every channel has a main color and its own color palette, while the background color is always a dark petrol blue intended to enhance the luminosity of the logos.[6]
Typography and Design
The 2021 logos gained visual depth through three-dimensional animation. The on-air presentation introduced typography designed specifically for Polsat, and the trailer packaging works with bold, large lettering that places the program content at the center of the design.[2][6]
The sound accompanying the new logo bumpers was composed by the music studio Novaspot.[2]
