Desh TV is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel owned by Desh Television Limited, part of the Karnaphuli Group conglomerate. It officially commenced broadcasts on 26 March 2009 and is headquartered in Malibagh, Dhaka.[1]
Design and History
From its launch, Desh TV used a logo featuring the text “desh.tv” entirely in gold, except for the dot, which was colored in green.[2]
On 26 October 2022, Desh TV officially unveiled a new logo at an event held at the Westin Hotel in Dhaka, with the Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud attending as the chief guest.[3][4] The unveiling coincided with the channel’s transition into a more news-oriented television channel.[2][4]
The current logo consists of the word “DESH” fully in uppercase with a superscript “TV” next to it. The letter “D” is fully colored in, and a gold-colored map of Bangladesh is placed on it.[2]
Meaning and Symbolism
The gold-colored map of Bangladesh placed on the letter “D” directly ties the wordmark to the nation, reflecting the channel’s name, “Desh,” which means “country” in Bengali. The channel’s stated mission emphasizes commitment to the dreams of the Bangladeshi people and salutes the red and green flag held high by them with pride.[5]
