Times Now is an English-language 24-hour news channel launched on 23 January 2006 by Times Global Broadcasting Company Ltd, part of the Times Group, in alliance with Reuters.[1][2] The channel operates under the Times Network, the television division of the Times Group, which also houses ET Now, Mirror Now, Times Now Navbharat and other channels.[3]
Design and History
At its 2005 pre-launch announcement, the Times Now logo was described as having a “3-D stylised metallic look” that represented a “new-age design philosophy.”[1] The channel went on air on 23 January 2006.[2]
In April 2015, the parent Times Television Network rebranded itself as Times Network, adopting a new logo and the tagline “Now or Nothing.”[4] The new network mark featured a pyramid with a red dot at its top. M K Anand, then MD and CEO of Times Network, explained the symbolism: “Our new logo is a pyramid, which signifies the population of the country and the red tip on the top is our target audience.”[5] The creative work for the network logo was done by Thomas Xavier, who ran an agency called Transformers in Bangalore.[5] Anand said the rebrand took close to two and a half months to develop.[5]
In March 2026, at the Times Now Summit 2026, Times Network unveiled a new brand identity marking two decades of Times Now.[6] The new logo features a globe motif with India at its centre, indicating a focus on global reach and cross-border information flow.[6] Times Group Managing Director Vineet Jain described the change: “We move from the stillness of a pyramid to the dynamism of a globe, a globe that carries within it, a strong imprint of India.”[7]
Meaning and Symbolism
Times Network said the 2026 refreshed identity is centred around a globe featuring the imprint of India, aimed at signalling its positioning as a network rooted in India while remaining globally connected.[8] The company stated that while its earlier identity symbolised its roots in legacy and tradition, the new design embraces a forward-looking ethos, representing progress, agility and a borderless flow of information.[9] The globe in the logo is described as capturing a spirit that is “open, interconnected, and alive with possibility,” with India at its heart.[9]
