Todo Noticias, commonly known by its initials TN, is an Argentine 24-hour cable news channel operated by Artear and owned by Grupo Clarín. Since its launch on June 1, 1993, the channel has used a compact logo built around the letters “TN,” with blue and red as its signature colors throughout most of its history.
Design and History
TN’s first logo, used from 1993 to 1996, was simple: the white uppercase letters “TN” on a blue rectangle. In mid-1996, the channel introduced a more distinctive mark featuring two rectangles, one blue and one red, tilted at 45 degrees, with a white uppercase “T” placed over them. This logo had a consistent three-dimensional appearance and no background. A slightly adjusted version of this same logo was used from 2001 to 2006, this time placed on a white rectangle.[1]
On June 1, 2006, TN changed its logo for the second time. The new mark consisted of two overlapping parallelograms, one red and one blue with a glossy effect, and a silver “T” designed to align with the shapes. This redesign coincided with the channel’s 13th anniversary and was developed by Gizmo, a studio specializing in visual solutions for film, television and advertising. The rebrand also introduced Vizrt graphics technology, which allowed for real-time animated graphics and a renewed on-screen look.[2]
In 2008, for TN’s 15th anniversary, the logo was refreshed again with more vivid colors, removal of the gradient, and a brighter “T.” A further refinement came in 2010, when the parallelograms were made smaller and more separated, and the “T” lost its bright effect.[1] On August 1, 2016, TN renewed its logo once more, in a version very similar to the previous one, alongside new on-screen graphics and designs.[3]
In August 2020, TN launched a new visual identity under the concept “TN Smart.” The channel kept the logo from 2012 in its 2016 version, while introducing a new on-screen aesthetic centered on a smartwatch-style device that displays additional information such as weather, transit status and urgent news alerts. The graphics were developed entirely by the Centro de Arte de Noticias de Artear.[4][5]
Meaning and Symbolism
TN’s visual identity has consistently paired blue and red parallelograms or rectangles with a white or silver “T” since 1996. The 2006 rebrand by Gizmo was designed to preserve the identity that characterized Todo Noticias for 13 years: seriousness and independent journalism.[2] The channel’s slogan, “Periodismo Independiente,” was used from 1993 to 2010 and again from 2011 onward, while “Todos Nosotros” was used between 2010 and 2011 and remains in use today.[1]
In 2020, Ricardo Ravanelli, news manager at Artear, described the TN Smart concept as “absolutely original and innovative,” noting that it went beyond a simple image renewal to provide more information on screen in a simpler and more legible way.[4]
Typography and Design
The TN logo has consistently used the uppercase letter “T” as its primary graphic element, paired with the letter “N” in the channel’s wordmark. The 2006 redesign by Gizmo introduced a silver “T” designed to align with the red and blue parallelograms, giving the mark a unified, geometric construction.[1] The 2020 TN Smart graphics moved toward a flatter, more animated style with white backgrounds for lower-third graphics, while retaining the blue and red color scheme of the logo.[4]
