Brøndby IF, the Danish football club based in Brøndbyvester and Brøndbyøster, uses a shield-shaped crest featuring a well, a bucket, and stars in blue and yellow. The club’s official colors are blue and yellow, with the home kit traditionally yellow-blue-blue.[1]
Design and History
The original B.I.F. logo was first used at the club’s founding in 1964, when Brøndbyernes Idrætsforening was established through the merger of Brøndbyvester IF and Brøndbyøster IF.[2] This original logo remained the club’s official mark until 2004, when Brøndby IF first used “1964” in the wreath at the bottom of the logo to mark the club’s 40th anniversary.[2]
In 2004, the logo was redrawn, new stars were added above the well, and “B.I.F.” was replaced by “1964” below the well. The redesign also added depth lines to the bucket and well to give the logo a three-dimensional effect.[3]
In July 2026, Brøndby IF announced that the original B.I.F. logo would return as the club’s official logo, replacing the version with “1964” at the bottom of the wreath.[2] The original logo had been reintroduced on match shirts and merchandise during the previous season, following the club’s 60th anniversary celebrations.[2] The rollout of the original B.I.F. logo is happening gradually, with signage, flags, and other visual elements being updated over time.[2]
Meaning and Symbolism
The well in the logo is a canting symbol: “brønd” means well in Danish.[4] The club describes the well as “the core of everything Brøndby IF stands for,” representing Brøndbyøster and Brøndbyvester, where the community took shape, and serving as a symbol of life, community, and anchoring.[5]
The club’s motto, “Supra Societatem Nemo” (“No one is above the club”), has been associated with the identity.[1] In the 50th anniversary logo produced for 2014, the motto was placed above the crest, and the laurel wreath was described as symbolizing victory and triumph.[3]
