KF KEK, officially Klubi Futbollistik Korporata Energjetike e Kosovës (Football Club of the Kosovo Energy Corporation), is a football club based in Obiliq (also known as Kastriot), Kosovo. Commonly referred to as KEK-u, the club was founded in 1928 and is nicknamed Elektricistët (The Electricians).[1] The club’s identity is tied to the Kosovo Energy Corporation, and it has competed in the second tier of Kosovar football, the First Football League, as well as reaching the top flight in 2018.[2]
Design and History
The club’s visual identity has evolved alongside its name changes. Initially known as KF Obiliq, the club later operated under the names KF KXEKM Kosova and KF Elektroekonomia before adopting its current name, FC KEK, in 1999.[1] The current name directly references the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), the state-owned power company, which is reflected in the club’s full name.[1]
Documented club colors are green and white, as listed in club profiles.[3] The club’s official website is listed as kfkek.com, and its social media presence is maintained through a Facebook page.[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The club’s identity is directly connected to its corporate namesake, the Kosovo Energy Corporation. The nickname Elektricistët (The Electricians) reinforces this link to the energy sector.[2] [3]
