KF Lushnja, also known as Klubi Sportiv Lushnja, is an Albanian football club based in the city of Lushnjë in the County of Fier. The club was officially formed on 27 July 1930, originally under the name Kongresi i Lushnjës, and plays its home matches at the Abdurrahman Roza Haxhiu Stadium.[1] The club’s traditional colors are green and yellow, with the green jersey featuring yellow edges as documented in the Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation’s Albania team colors listing.[2]
Design and History
The club’s visual identity has undergone several changes over its history. Global Sports Archive lists logo history entries for the 1960s, 1970s, 2000s, and a period from the 2000s through 2012, indicating multiple crest iterations during those decades.[3]
One notable historical crest featured an octopus, a design that drew attention for its unusual choice of an eight-legged sea creature for a club located roughly 20 miles from the coast. The National noted in 2013 that nobody was certain how the club came to use the octopus emblem, with speculation that it might have been a tribute to Argentine footballer Mario Kempes, who once coached the team.[4]
The club’s early identity was tied to the green color of its first official jerseys. According to the club’s history, a member returned from Austria with shirts featuring green vertical stripes, which were used to symbolize the fields of Myzeqe, the agricultural plain surrounding Lushnjë.[1]
Meaning and Symbolism
The green in the club’s identity carries documented local meaning: the green vertical stripes on the first jerseys were intended to symbolize the fields of Myzeqe, the region where the club is based.[1] The club’s current official colors are listed as green and yellow by Global Sports Archive.[3]
