FK Riteriai is a Lithuanian football club based in Vilnius. The club was known as FK Trakai until February 2019, when it was officially renamed Riteriai, the Lithuanian word for “Knights.”[1] The name change accompanied a broader rebranding that introduced new team colors and a new visual identity.
Design and History
The club’s rebranding was announced on 19 February 2019, when the A Lyga bronze medalists officially became “Riteriai” ahead of the upcoming season.[1] Club director Virmantas Lemežis explained the change by noting that the club had long positioned itself with Vilnius and its region, playing home matches in the capital since entering the A Lyga.[2]
Following the rebranding, the club adopted volt green for the home kit and dark blue for the away kit.[3] Before 2019, the team colors were yellow and blue.[3] The club’s logo features a knight on horseback, reflecting the team’s name, which translates to “Knights” in English.[3]
At the time of the name change, the club indicated that the logo presented initially was temporary, with a new one to be unveiled later.[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The club’s name Riteriai means “Knights” in Lithuanian.[3] The knight-on-horseback motif in the logo directly illustrates this name, tying the visual identity to the club’s chosen moniker rather than to a geographic location.[3]
