The Louis Philippe logo pairs a crest emblem with the uppercase LOUIS PHILIPPE wordmark. The brand, launched in India in 1989, is a premium menswear label. Its reporting continues to identify the crest as a defining mark. ABLBL’s FY25 annual report refers to the brand’s “iconic crest.”

Meaning and History

The name refers to King Louis Philippe I of France, who reigned from 1830 to 1848. Brand materials connect him with generosity of spirit and appreciation of the arts. A Louis Philippe flagship-store announcement describes that namesake and confirms the brand’s 1989 launch.

The business began under Madura Garments, established in 1988. The Aditya Birla Group acquired it in 1999; it became Madura Fashion & Lifestyle in 2010 and joined Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd in 2015. In 2025, the Madura business was demerged into Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands Ltd. Aditya Birla’s account of the restructuring traces those changes, and ABLBL’s FY26 integrated report includes Louis Philippe in its brand portfolio.

The image shows the crest centred above the widely spaced uppercase wordmark. The symbol has a crown-like outline, but Louis Philippe’s materials call it a crest rather than assigning it separate crown symbolism.

Two documented retail identity updates fall within this timeline. In 2010, Louis Philippe introduced a new retail identity at a Trivandrum store, with ThincTank New York credited for conceiving the retail identity alongside in-house development. The announcement describes a store presentation, not a redraw of the logo. In 2018, a retail identity called “The Crest” was unveiled at a Hyderabad store; the company’s release described the crest as a symbol of craftsmanship and excellence. The 2018 announcement likewise concerns the retail identity.

The crest appears across Louis Philippe’s brand ranges, including Luxure, LP Sports, LP Jeans, Athwork and Green Crest. A store launch release lists several of these ranges, while ABLBL’s annual report identifies Green Crest among the brand’s offerings.
