Plein Sport is the activewear brand of Philipp Plein Group. Trade coverage dates its introduction to 2016, when the launch logo was described as red and white. Its visual identity combines the PLEIN SPORT name with tiger imagery, although the animal appears in more than one treatment.

Meaning and history
At the September 2016 announcement, the logo was described as red and white, alongside the hashtag “#UnleashTheBeast.” The report said the line would reach 500 stores that December. It does not identify a typeface or explain the color choice, so those details are not part of the documented identity. FashionNetwork reported the announcement and launch plans.
The tiger is a recurring brand motif: South African trade coverage connected it with Plein Sport’s “Survival of the fittest” positioning and described it as appearing throughout the collections. That report links the animal to the brand’s stated positioning.
???? – Today

The image under this heading shows the same basic arrangement as the lead: the PLEIN SPORT wordmark sits beneath a tiger, with sharp strokes extending around the animal. Here, the background is white and the lettering is black and red; the lead image uses a dark background and different lettering colors. These visible differences do not establish when either treatment was used.
Trade and legal reporting describes two tiger treatments on products in 2017–2018: a tiger’s head and a leaping tiger with claw-like stripes. Puma challenged Plein Sport trademark filings, arguing that the leaping-cat mark was confusingly similar to its own. The reporting records preliminary injunctions in Germany and a court order in the Netherlands; that legal history does not establish that the marks were identical. Lexology’s analysis outlines the dispute.
The tiger also appeared in product design beyond standalone graphics. For the “Tigers” sneakers launched around the opening of Plein Sport’s first US store in February 2023, a tiger face was set into the sole. The group’s brand page lists graphic names including “SCRATCH mark,” “TIGER PATCH” and “JUMPING CAT,” showing a vocabulary broader than one fixed emblem. FashionNetwork covered the sneakers and store opening; the group’s Plein Sport page lists the graphic names.
From launch to relaunch
Plein Sport was paused in 2018 and announced again in December 2021. Its relaunch included a sales campaign beginning in January 2022, a Milan presentation the following month and e-commerce in April. FashionUnited reports the relaunch sequence. At ISPO Munich in November 2023, the brand presented its collection as standalone activewear “without bling,” a positioning that set it apart from the group’s more ornate fashion image. FashionUnited covered the presentation.
Current identity
Plein Sport remains an active Philipp Plein Group brand. In 2026, FashionNetwork China reported a BranDNA licensing and distribution agreement for ready-to-wear in Greater China, Korea and Japan, with a first China store planned for the first quarter of 2027 or earlier. The report describes the agreement and expansion plan.
